The Opportunity
The Unit Manager, Security Systems and Assets provides strategic and operational leadership in the design, implementation, maintenance and optimisation of the Department's electronic security systems. This includes managing access control, closed circuit television (CCTV), alarm systems and other integrated security technologies.
The Unit Manager works closely with third party providers, internal stakeholders and cross functional teams to ensure the integrity, availability and performance of all security system infrastructure, while supporting systems upgrades and system expansion. The role also collaborates extensively across the Department to deliver reliable, scalable and secure solutions that support security system and asset management activities.
A key focus of the role is supporting the establishment and management of provider arrangements which support Department strategies and ongoing security operations, while ensuring services are delivered in line with contracts and associated budgets.
About You
You have hands-on experience with physical security technologies and understand industry requirements, including managing service provider performance to ensure high standards are met.
You’re confident developing strategic plans that balance cost, risk, and business needs, and you consistently deliver outcomes under limited direction, collaborating across teams to find practical, innovative solutions.
You build and maintain strong internal and external networks, embrace change, and actively drive continuous improvement. You empower others to perform at their best, provide regular feedback, and address challenges quickly and effectively.
Qualifications/Experience
For appointment to the role at the PO4 classification level, a degree in Engineering that provides eligibility for graduate membership as a Professional Engineer with the Institution of Engineers, Australia is required.
A current driver’s licence is also essential for fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
For appointment to the role at the ASO7 classification level, a relevant Engineering discipline would be highly regarded. A current driver’s licence is also essential to meet the operational requirements of the position.
Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required
Remuneration
PO4 - $ 110,696 to $ 120,470 pa + superannuation.
ASO7 - $ 108,109 to $ 116,864 + superannuation.
