Description:

Practitioner Wanted – Counsellor / Social Worker / Psychologist

Are you a compassionate Counsellor, Social Worker or Psychologist with a knack for juggling a full plate, a calm head and collected presence in session, and a heart that beats for making a real impact? If you've got counselling experience and a deep desire to help others—we'd love to meet you.

We're a small-but-mighty Tasmanian not-for-profit doing big things for mental health and wellbeing across the island. From individuals and families to workplaces and communities, we've got their backs. And thanks to exciting growth, we're on the lookout for another kind soul (that's you!) to join our team.

About the Role

This Hobart-based role (with occasional travel in Tasmania) will see you delivering counselling support face-to-face and via telehealth to a diverse range of clients. Your week will be varied, meaningful, and full of human connection.

You'll be:

  • Holding space and building trust with clients from all walks of life

  • Providing short-term, solution-focused counselling to EAP clients

  • Providing longer-term support to our worker's compensation referrals and private clients

  • Supporting workplaces with on-site critical incident response and wellbeing services

  • Managing your caseload with a cool head and compassionate heart

  • Championing mental health and promoting wellbeing across the board

We're looking for someone available 3 to 5 days per week —let's chat about what that looks like for you.

About You

You're a people-person who can work independently, meet deadlines, and bring both structure and warmth to your work.

You bring:

  • A tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling

  • Current full registration with AASW, APS, PACFA, or ACA, or ability to obtain

  • Minimum 2 years' counselling experience

  • A toolbox full of evidence-based approaches (solution-focused, trauma-informed, strength-based, etc.)

  • Strong skills in risk assessment and managing complex issues

  • Excellent time management, resilience, and emotional intelligence

  • A current driver's license, Police Check (within 6 months), and a WWVP check (or ability to obtain)

As we are looking to fill some specific needs, you'll really stand out if you have one or more of the below skills and experiences:

  • EAP or workplace wellbeing

  • Delivering training on mental health topics

  • Working with children or individuals from CALD backgrounds

  • Providing professional supervision or mediation

Why join us?

  • Be part of a purpose-driven team making a genuine difference in people's lives.

  • You'll have real opportunities to make tangible impacts in the lives of others

  • Flexible work culture, generous leave, and the chance to bring your full self to work.

  • Ability to access professional supervision, training and health and wellbeing initiatives that recognise you as an individual.

  • Salary sacrifice benefits up to $15,900 for living expenses and an additional $2,650 for meal and entertainment.

  • Generous wellbeing initiatives including access to additional paid time off.

Sound like a fit?

We're not just looking for a Counsellor. We're looking for a values-aligned human—someone who brings professionalism, warmth and a can-do spirit.

Remuneration will be under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award with salary commensurate to experience and hours worked.
