The Opportunity (key responsibilities/duties):As the Senior Management Accountant, Capital you will:- Prepare and analyse monthly capital project reports, reconciliations, briefing notes, and presentations on a range of complex asset and capital management and budget issues, providing insights and recommendations to management.- Contribute towards the development and review of capital management policies and procedures that will assist the agency meet its obligations established under the Government's financial management framework - legislation, guidelines and standards.- Provide accurate, professional and timely advice to Business Groups on asset policies for Capital Work-in-Progress, and associated acquisitions based on a good working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Queensland Treasury Financial Reporting Requirements, Non-Current Asset Policies and other relevant policies.- Ensure that the agency's annual capital budget and budget revisions are accurately reflected in the Queensland Treasury Budget Papers, Tridata and internal records.- Maintain and develop constructive, collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders including senior management, Queensland Treasury and external service providers. - Collaborate with the finance team to develop and maintain effective internal controls over capital processed and asset accounting.- Possess ability to communicate capital and asset related financial information effectively to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and auditors.- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting regulations and industry best practices related to capital asset accounting.- Support the Manager Capital, Maintenance and Asset Accounting as directed.What we are looking for (qualifications, registrations, experience):- While accounting qualifications are not mandatory, the possession of a relevant degree and membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA), or MIPA status with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) would be considered to be highly desirable given the technical nature of this role.- For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
