We are seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Challis Community PS is seeking enthusiastic, dynamic and team orientated Deputy Principals to join their wonderful and supportive team! The suitable applicants should be able to coordinate programs such as Small Group Tuition program and Complex Behaviour Support program.

The Deputy Principal assumes a pivotal role, working closely with the Principal and the administrative team to shape the school's identity. Educational leadership is a key responsibility, involving the active development and promotion of the school's values, ethos, and priorities. The Deputy Principal champions a collaborative approach, encouraging not only staff but also volunteers and community members to actively share ownership of the school's vision and goals. This collaborative ethos extends to change management, where the Deputy Principal strategically facilitates the acceptance of change and identifies opportunities for improved service delivery. Ideally the suitable applicants should have a strong knowledge and understanding of Leading A Culture of Teaching Excellence.

Small Group Tuition (SGT) role will plan and deliver evidence-based interventions that support the specific literacy and/or numeracy support needs of the identified students. This will include undertaking a plan, to teach and assess cycle for each group of SGT students whilst implementing processes to monitor student progress. The suitable applicants report on SGT student progress and their achievement to classroom teachers and parents/caregivers whilst maintaining regular communication with the identified students’ classroom teacher/sand supporting the ongoing review of the implementation of the SGT project.

Complex Behaviour Support Coordinator (CBSC) will work in their school to develop and embed a connected and tiered system of support that promotes positive student behaviour and engagement in learning. The CBSCs will work with school leaders to assess, identify, plan for and implement universal, targeted and intensive supports that effectively identify student needs and match these to effective interventions.
