The Role
The Director, Medical and Surgical Services is responsible for medical and surgical leadership, medical oversight of clinical governance, and maintenance of patient information across Macquarie University Health / MQ Health. The role ensures appropriate structures are in place and communicated, and standards of clinical care, safety and resourcing are met. As a member of the MQ Health Executive team, this role contributes to the overall leadership and management of MQ Health and to the development and implementation of the organisational goals and values. The role is responsible for leading and overseeing all strategic aspects of medical and surgical services as well as partnering with the Director of Nursing in the delivery of the highest quality clinical governance and patient safety outcomes across the 181 bed facility and associated specialist clinics.
About You
We are seeking an experienced medical and surgical services leader with a track record of success and innovation across a complex healthcare setting, ideally with some private / not for profit hospital exposure. You will have worked across the clinical, research and academic intersection and be a champion for elevating the skills and capabilities of current as well as the next generation of clinicians and academics. You will be comfortable working as a key member of an executive management team. You will demonstrate significant achievement across a broad spectrum of areas including clinical operations, strategic planning and delivery, workforce management, clinical governance and patient safety. Outstanding leadership, communication and engagement skills are critical, as is the ability to influence multiple and diverse stakeholders.
