About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Control Support Specialist to join the Operational Technology Services team in our Digital Services division. In this pivotal role, you will provide specialist technical support to our Control Room staff, Contact Centre and Operations field force , ensuring the effective management of our critical business systems used to safely operate the electricity distribution network. These include our Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), our integrated field mobile switching solution and associated systems supporting the management of planned and unplanned outages.
This is a permanent opportunity and this role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint, with the desired location being Port Macquarie.
Key Responsibilities:
- You'll be the go-to expert for System Control teams, offering technical knowledge, fault investigation support, and assistance with abnormal systems behaviour.
- Ensure the integrity and availability of operational and data needs for the business through the application and testing of ADMS/OMS and mobile switching solution configuration.
- Create test scripts, conduct rigorous testing, and report findings to management.
- Proactively seek solutions for continuous business improvements, focusing on safety, NECF breach avoidance, security, quality, and operational efficiency.
About You
You possess strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills, which enable you to provide high-quality technical support services for System Control, Contact Centre and Operations field personnel.
In addition to this you will have:
- Extensive experience in a technical role within System Control systems.
- Experience and knowledge in electricity network operations
- Expertise in supporting the operation of the Advanced DMS (PowerOn Advantage) and mobile switching (PowerOn Mobile).
- Experience with or exposure to ADMS configurations and system testing.
- Proficiency and/or an aptitude for scripting, SQL data extraction, and automated reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering or Information Technology or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
