About the role

Mater Private Hospital Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager to join the Welcome Lounge and Day Procedure Unit on a permanent full-time basis.

Mater's Welcome Lounge and Day Procedure Unit is open Monday to Friday and forms a critical part of Mater Private Hospital Brisbane’s Surgical and Acute Nursing Services.

Salary range: $71.42 - $76.80 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

This role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to deliver the highest quality patient care, where advanced clinical skills and knowledge underpin care coordination, collaboration and communication for excellence in patient outcomes.

This role will see you provide leadership and direction to the clinical team to manage and be accountable throughout the preadmission, admission and post-procedure care of surgical patients at Mater Private Hospital.

Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Caring for and leading a team of professionals
  • Communication and coordination of patient care
  • Engagement with stakeholders in other departments to ensure perioperative and procedural patients arrive surgery ready, that services are efficient, that patient safety is optimized, and to resolve barriers to patient flow.
  • Team management, including performance management and compliance with Human Resources processes
  • Delivery of work against relevant timeframes

About you

You will be an experienced leader and will drive innovation in your field; using evidence-based research to suggest new ways of doing things and take a positive and adaptive approach to embedding change.

Other skills and responsibilities include:

  • Extensive experience in perioperative/pre-admissions with sound clinical expertise
  • Current AHPRA Nursing registration
  • Ability to demonstrate strong capability in leading both the clinical and commercial aspects of a tertiary service
  • High level communication skills within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated competence in cost centre management
  • Willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
  • Post-graduate qualifications in perioperative care will be highly regarded
