About the role:
Aboriginal Education Directorate provides strategic cultural and policy advice on national and state policy direction in relation to Aboriginal education and contributes to the implementation of the Department’s Aboriginal Education Strategy.
The Aboriginal Community Education Team Leader takes a holistic perspective across a network of schools and sites to identify immediate and long-term service requirements for Aboriginal children to ensure they are supported to learn. The position works closely with Local Education Teams (LETs) to improve the policies, practices, support, and services provided to Aboriginal children and young people to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes. The position provides advisory and consultative services to LETs, school leadership teams, Student Support Services staff and site based Aboriginal education staff to improve decision making and service provision impacting the participation in education and early childhood services of Aboriginal children, students, their parents, and families.
Qualifications:
Essential: A certificate 4 or higher education qualification in education, human or community services, or equivalent experience.
Desirable: Leadership and Management training or qualifications
Eligibility:
In accordance with the Section 52(2) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA), applicants for this position must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
AEW5: $100,327 - $108,054 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.
