The role

As a Team Manager, you will be in a key leadership position leading a specialist team of psychosocial experts, to drive WA health and safety management reforms and engage with a range of stakeholders across general industries.

You will manage resources and operational activities to achieve outcomes identified in the Directorate’s Business Plan, including inspections and investigations.

You will also contribute to the development and improvement of internal safety policies, governance frameworks, and business processes. Additionally, you will lead or participate in legislative, policy, and system development initiatives focused on human factors, while maintaining your own professional development and regulatory expertise.

As a key contributor to strategic and operational planning, you will ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will foster collaborative and consultative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, provide staff with development and training opportunities, and support continuous capability growth.

Ongoing professional development and participation in key initiatives will be integral to your success in this leadership role

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership and team building to create and maintain a high performing team in a fast paced, technically challenging environment to achieve strategic objectives and culture change.
  • Considerable experience and knowledge of human factors or the management of psychosocial risks.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of the work health and safety regulatory framework in Australia and its application.
  • A Bachelor degree or higher qualification relevant to psychology would be an advantage.
