Senior Copywriter

TBWA Sydney
Canberra Full-day Full-time

Description:

We’re on the hunt for a Senior Copywriter who can bring clarity, wit, and punch to every brief. You’ll concept and craft big ideas that cut through the noise and shape culture — working closely with an Art Director partner and collaborating across departments.

About the Role:

We’re on the hunt for a Senior Copywriter who can bring clarity, wit, and punch to every brief. You’ll concept and craft big ideas that cut through the noise and shape culture — working closely with an Art Director partner and collaborating across departments.

This is a senior role for a thinker-doer: someone who generates sharp insights and turns them into breakthrough ideas and language — across every touchpoint, from TV and film to digital, social, and emerging platforms.

THE TASK AT HAND

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver bold, original ideas that reflect TBWA’s Disruption® philosophy
  • Write compelling, on-brand copy for a wide range of channels — from 6-second social to long-form manifestos
  • Collaborate with Art Directors, Designers, Strategists, and Producers to bring ideas to life
  • Present work to internal teams and clients with clarity and conviction
  • Guide junior creatives, offering constructive feedback and mentorship
  • Stay on top of cultural trends, language, and consumer behaviours to ensure work is always relevant
  • Help shape brand tone of voice and contribute to creative strategy development

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO TBWA

You

  • 6+ years of copywriting experience in a creative agency or comparable environment
  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong conceptual thinking and exceptional writing craft
  • Experience working on fully integrated campaigns across all channels
  • Ability to write across tones and formats — from bold headlines to nuanced brand storytelling
  • A collaborative, proactive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Passion for ideas that disrupt, challenge, and inspire
  • Comfort with tight deadlines, fast turnarounds, and high creative standards

WHAT LIFE IS LIKE AT TBWA

  • Fast paced, collaborative and rewarding
  • We’re professionals but don’t take ourselves too seriously
  • We’re hard on the work, kind to each other
  • We’re a diverse bunch of misfits (in a good way)
  • We’re flexible, but believe the good stuff happens when we’re in the agency together

WHAT WE’LL BRING TO YOU

  • Career development: growing and developing all our people is critical to our success – we do so through an always on feedback culture – not just an annual review.
  • Training: we have a continuous learning culture through our Pirate Academy run every fortnight, designed to empower our people with the skills and confidence to steward our most important asset: Creativity. We provide a range of internal and external training opportunities, personalised to your individual needs. We also benefit from access to Global Learning Program with al all expenses paid trip of an overseas destination to learn from the best with the best.
  • Radically open collective: we are a collective, not a network. Each of our offices has its own personality and special skills. We thrive on our difference but are united by our common language of Disruption®. We are flexible, fluid and organic. None of us are as good as all of us.
  • Disrupt This: we truly believe that ideas can come from anywhere, not just one department. We have created a wall of client & cultural problems that anyone can help solve.
  • Flexibility policy: we work with a level of flexibility that brings the best performance for both the individual and the team around them.
  • Homeland leave: offer homeland leave to full-time employees of TBWA time to connect with their families and the TBWA global collective. Annual leave taken in your Homeland can be matched with a period (50% of your annual leave) working in your Homeland.
  • Giving back: Never has it been more important to give back to society and our local community. We encourage our people to volunteer for good causes. Everyone gets 1 day per quarter dedicated to this.
