About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Unit, Colorectal, some of your duties as the Consultant, Colorectal may involve:
- Participating in Divisional and Unit meetings and hospital committees including other Government and non-Government agencies as directed by the Head of Colorectal Surgery, the Director of the Division of Surgical and Perioperative Medical Services, or by the Chief Executive Officer.
- Ensuring function of the Colorectal Service in accordance with the vision, mission objects, by-laws and policies of the as amended from time to time and assisting with the implementation of the Hospital's Business and Strategic plans as requested.
- Initiating research questions and methodologies, assisting with, supervising, and directly undertaking research activities, in particular collaborative research relating to Pelvic Floor Dysfunction.
About you:
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
- Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (General Surgery); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
- Substantial experience in the hospital industry.
- At least 2 years post-fellowship training and/or work in colorectal surgery, with experience in investigation and management of pelvic floor disorders and benign and malignant gynaecological surgical conditions.
- Involvement in the management and initiation of research projects, both independently and in collaboration with other health units.
- Ability to conduct critical audits and practice improvement programs.
