An exciting opportunity exists within the Smelting and Refining Technical Services department to join the production planning team, primarily supporting the Mount Isa Mines Copper and Lead Smelters.

The Role
The core role of the Technical Services department is to provide technical support to the assets to meet their business goals. Reporting to the Superintendent – Planning, this position is a permanent residential role, on a standard 5/2/4/3 roster configuration.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Lead a team of Planning Metallurgists in the delivery of production planning related tasks.Plan future production activity on the monthly and annual timescales to maximise profitability for the business.Effective stakeholder engagement to roll out and implement production plans.Conduct monthly metal reconciliations and drive improvements to the metal accounting systems.Report on variance to the production plans on weekly and monthly time-scales.Evaluation of potential feedstock for the smelter assets.Develop and coordinate logistics strategies for smelter purchased feedstocks.
You will have the following skillset and attributes:
A degree in an Extractive Metallurgy related discipline.A minimum of 5 years of experience in metallurgical industries, with production planning and metallurgical accounting experience.Understanding of smelting systems and processes and their inter-relationships.Intermediate data analytical skills with Excel, PI System, Power Query.Experience in leading people.Ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders.
