Introduction

About Strait Link

Strait Link has a proud history as a vital link in the supply chain between Tasmania and the Australian mainland. As an end-to-end logistics provider, everyday our people - on our vessels, at ports, at our depots and warehouses, and in our trucks and offices - play a vital role connecting Tasmanian businesses and communities.

Through daily sea freight services between Port of Melbourne in Victoria and Port of Burnie in Tasmania, our world-class ships connect the Tasmanian economy and communities with customers, suppliers and markets across Australia and, in turn, the world.

Description

At Strait Link Logistics, we keep Australia’s freight moving—and we’re looking for someone who’s just as organized and reliable as our network. As our Returnable Packaging Support, you'll play a crucial behind-the-scenes role in keeping our pallet and cage systems running smoothly. You’ll manage returnable asset paperwork, support daily operations, and help the team stay on track with accurate data and smart admin support.

If you’re ready to play a key part in a fast-paced logistics environment where your efforts directly impact performance and sustainability, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities & Duties :

  • Ensure all returnable assets are managed in line with company procedures and hire agreements, promptly identifying and reporting any non-conformances.
  • Collect, sort, validate, and scan pallet documentation daily for internal tracking.
  • Work closely with drivers and the site debriefer to confirm all necessary paperwork is returned and accounted for.
  • Enter asset data into internal systems (e.g., Tollworks), ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting.
  • Raise daily transfer-off dockets and maintain up-to-date records.
  • Liaise with customers to follow up on aged pallet transfer balances, ensuring clear communication and resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Maintain accurate monthly pallet summaries and perform daily counts of on-hand assets across CHEP and LOSCAM.
  • Support audit readiness through consistent record-keeping.
  • Provide equipment control inductions for subcontractors and assist in upskilling team members and partners in pallet awareness and procedures.
  • Assist with linehaul manifesting, confirm unloads, and reconcile pallet quantities, adjusting as required.
  • Support team operations by covering tasks during leave periods and assisting with duties as assigned by the manager or team leader.

Skills And Experiences

About You :

  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a commitment to getting the job done right
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a team-first approach with a strong commitment to collective success
  • The ability to follow documented processes and work instructions with precision
  • A methodical, organised work style to ensure daily targets and deadlines are consistently met
  • Confidence working collaboratively across different Strait Link departments and with variety of people
  • A commitment to upholding operational standards, policies, and procedures of Strait Link Logistics
  • Passion for delivering high-quality customer service to both internal teams and external stakeholders and customers
  • Adaptability and a positive attitude in a constantly changing environment, with a solutions-oriented approach to challenges
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Familiarity with pallet procedures or returnable assets (CHEP/LOSCAM) is an advantage
  • Experience with 2IC responsibilities will be highly regarded
