Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital
You will be responsible for maintaining and managing orthopaedic surgical equipment and supplies, ensuring they are clean, functional, and readily available for procedures. This role provides vital support to the surgical team during operations, contributing to a safe, efficient, and well-coordinated surgical environment.
The Position

Ensures the maintenance of orthopaedic and neurosurgical equipment and supplies, including co-ordination of ordering, delivery and receipt of consignment stock and instrumentation, under the direction of the Perioperative Services Manager.

Prepares all implants and instruments used in orthopaedic surgery for Sterilisation and assists CSSD staff with the preparation of specialised equipment.

Ensures the maintenance of orthopaedic and neurosurgery operating tables and attachments and any other positioning equipment used in orthopaedic and neurosurgery surgery.

Ensures the maintenance of all power drills, saws and pneumatic tourniquets.

Ensures the maintenance of orthopaedic implant records.

Liaises with orthopaedic company representatives to ensure required in-service is provided as appropriate.

Liaises with Perioperative Services Manager regarding cost effectiveness of stock/equipment utilisation.

Assists with the positioning of patients and manipulation of orthopaedic and neurosurgery tables as required.

Assists with the application and removal of Plaster of Paris bandages, traction apparatus and pneumatic tourniquets as required.

Maintains responsibility for ensuring the provision of a safe working environment, adhering to requirements of hospital policies and procedures relating to Work, Health & Safety and Infection Control.

Ensures a clear and concise standard of documentation.
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in Orthopaedic Surgery, with a sound understanding of orthopaedic equipment and its application in a clinical setting. A solid foundation in basic anatomy and physiology is essential to support safe and effective patient care.
We are seeking a team player with proven ability to plan, organise, and manage work activities efficiently. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are vital, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary surgical team.

Salary : $49.85 to $54.98 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation
