About us
The Mental Health Advocacy Service (MHAS) is established under Part 20 of the Mental Health Act 2014. It is an independent body providing support, advocacy and rights protection for identified persons, including involuntary mental health patients and psychiatric hostel residents. The Chief Mental Health Advocate (the Chief) engages Senior Mental Health Advocates (Senior Advocates) who supervise Mental Health Advocates, Youth Advocates and other specialist Advocates.
The Mental Health Advocacy Service is operationally independent of the Mental Health Commission which provides corporate support services and is the employing authority of Advocacy Services staff.
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Executive Assistant and Executive Assistant – Business Support.
Executive Assistant contributes to the outcome through:
- Provide executive assistance to the Chief Mental Health Advocate (Chief), the Deputy Chief Advocate (Deputy), the General Counsel and Managers.
- Utilising a range of business systems to the priorities of the people it supports.
- Developing and managing routine and ad hoc meeting schedules, including the development of agendas, recording minutes and outcomes as required, production of high level, confidential and sensitive correspondence and proactive management of complex diaries and busy email accounts are a major focus.
Executive Assistant – Business Support is responsible for:
- Providing effective executive and administrative support to the MHAS as well as assists with managing Senior Advocates and Team leaders’ engagements amongst other projects and initiatives where organisational support is needed.
- Utilising business systems to manage work priorities.
- Support the Senior Executive Officer in ensuring business needs are met.
