We are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Chef / Cook to manage the kitchen and preparation of meals at Bethanie Kingsley Aged Care Home. One of our smaller sites, Bethanie Kingsley is a homely 37 bed facility with a focus on promoting independence and social activities.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience managing a kitchen efficiently and preparing food that is nutritious, well presented and within budget constraints.
The successful applicant will be able to commit to permanent shifts on Thursdays, working 7.30am - 3.30pm, with the ability to pick up additional shifts at either Kingsley or any of our other sites across Perth on a casual basis.
About You
- Possess a passion for, and previous experience working as, a Chef or Cook for large groups of people, ideally in an aged care, hospital or similar environment
- Minimum requirement of a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
- Ability to supervise other members of staff
- Experience in ordering food stuffs and awareness of waste management
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent working knowledge of the Food Act and Food Standards Code
- Willingness to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of The Bethanie Group
- Willingness to obtain relevant vaccinations
- Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to apply for one)
The Role
- Manage the preparation and cooking of meals on site, including ordering of food stuffs
- Prepare appetising and nutritious meals using fresh ingredients
- Assist in menu development
- Manage and develop a small team, including training staff on appropriate food presentation and preparation techniques
- Understand and deliver special dietary requirements for our residents
- Managing the catering for small functions
- Undertake responsibility of daily food safe documentation and ensure compliance is met
