Excelsia University College invites applications for the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) – a pivotal leadership opportunity for an accomplished and visionary technology executive with a passion for innovation, strategic impact and faith-based higher education.

The CIO will lead Excelsia’s digital transformation strategy and oversee all aspects of IT governance, innovation, operations, and security. As a key member of Excelsia’s Management Committee, the CIO contributes to shaping strategic direction through the lens of technology enablement, ensuring alignment with the institution’s academic, research and operational goals.
The successful candidate will be:
- A forward-thinking and authentic leader with the proven ability to deliver strategic and operational excellence in IT.
- A collaborative and relational communicator who can partner across all university college departments to deliver innovative and user-centred solutions.
- A highly experienced executive with significant experience leading digital transformation and systems optimisation within complex organisations, ideally in higher education.
- Project manage the implementation of new system.
- Develop and lead Excelsia’s multi-year IT strategy aligned with the University’s Strategic Plan and mission.
- Oversee all aspects of IT operations including infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, service delivery, and digital learning platforms.
- Provide strategic advice to the Management Committee, contributing insights on emerging technologies, sector trends and develop dashboards on Excelsia’s key results.
- Lead transformation of learning management systems (LMS), student and CRM platforms, and data analytics to enhance teaching, learning and the student experience.
- Champion a culture of digital literacy, innovation and continuous improvement across the University.
- Manage IT budgets, procurement and vendor relationships to ensure high-value service delivery and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including Australian Privacy Principles, and the Higher Education Standards Framework.
- Oversee cybersecurity, data privacy and manage security risk.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT, including 7+ years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven success leading digital transformation initiatives in complex environments, preferably in higher education.
- Strong working knowledge of data security, cybersecurity, privacy law, and compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead high-performing teams, manage large budgets and vendor relationships.
- A committed Christian, actively involved in a local church, with alignment to the mission and values of Excelsia University College.
The Chief Information Officer is a full-time executive role reporting to the Chief Executive. Immediate start is preferred or by negotiation. This is an on-campus role.
