A government organisation in Katherine, Northern Territory is seeking a Finance Officer to join their team who are supporting the delivery of essential community services.
- Salary: $70,456.85 + Super
- 6 weeks annual leave p.a

- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, statutory obligations, and organisational policies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience with finance software such as Xero or QuickBooks
- Current driver’s licence
- Tertiary qualification in finance or related field
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer will provide a broad range of financial and administrative support across rates, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
This role requires strong knowledge of financial systems and procedures, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work to deadlines while providing internal and external support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake day-to-day financial and administrative transactions across rates, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, grants, and general ledger
- Prepare BAS, superannuation returns, bank deposits, and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, audits, and internal fraud protection procedures
- Maintain and review financial procedures in line with policies, standards, and regulations
- Provide in-house training on financial systems and support change initiatives
- Act as a key contact for finance-related queries from stakeholders
