Job Description

About the team & role

Sydney Airport is seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to provide strategic financial management and analysis for our capital investment program on an initial 12-month basis . This role is key to supporting high-profile investment decisions, delivering insights for executive and Board-level reporting, and guiding the Capex components of our 5-year corporate plan and quarterly forecasts. You’ll also partner with teams across the business to provide finance support for capital projects.

You’ll be part of a collaborative and high-performing Finance team that plays a critical role across the Airport. With functions spanning budgeting, commercial finance, treasury, procurement, and more, our team is united by a focus on continuous improvement and meaningful impact.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to

  • Act as a key partner to our business functions, providing strategic financial analysis and commercial insights to support Sydney Airport’s capital portfolio and pipeline of major infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, insightful reporting on capital performance, trends, and KPIs to a range of stakeholders.
  • Support long-term capital planning through the consolidation of corporate plans and reforecasts, ensuring data is accurate and aligned across the business.
  • Review and shape capital project business cases, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and investment criteria.
  • Contribute to monthly Investment Committee materials, helping prioritise, forecast, and approve Capex projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement in capital planning systems and dashboards, identifying opportunities to streamline reporting and enhance data integrity.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Economics or Accounting, with CPA, CA or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Experience in a finance or analytical role, ideally in an infrastructure, property or other capital-intensive setting.
  • Naturally inquisitive, you spot anomalies, ask the next question and follow the numbers to the real story.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, with a knack for identifying insights and driving innovative solutions.
  • Clear communicator who can translate data and build rapport with non-finance colleagues.
  • A proactive, results-driven approach with a focus on delivering outcomes and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to think strategically and understand the broader business context of financial decisions.
