Workforce & Agribusiness Support OfficerAbout the RoleWe are seeking a motivated and versatile Workforce & Agribusiness Support Officer to join our team on a 12-month contract. This dynamic role provides an exciting blend of tasks where you will spend most of your time working with the Queensland Agriculture Workforce Network (QAWN) and you will also provide extension support to a Vegetable R&D program meaning:QAWN Program: You will be one of seven QAWN officers employed throughout Queensland to engage with growers and stakeholders to address workforce challenges, develop practical solutions, and deliver workforce planning initiatives to strengthen Queensland’s agricultural workforce.Vegetable Extension Support: This role will provide extension support to a vegetable research and development program, including on-farm monitoring, data collection, coordination of workshops and reporting of results to growers and stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild relationships with agribusinesses, industry bodies, government agencies, and workforce service providersEngage confidently with people of all ages and backgrounds to provide practical workforce supportDeliver workforce engagement activities, with a strong understanding of the VET sector and training pathwaysSupport growers in navigating workforce visa systems relevant to horticulture (e.g. PALM, WHM)Contribute to industry meetings, workshops, and field daysApply creative problem-solving skills to address workforce and on-farm challengesSupport R&D trial activities, including on-farm visits, data collection and dissemination of resultsPrepare project updates, reports, and communications for stakeholdersAbout YouTo be successful in this role, you will bring:✔️ Experience in workforce development, HR, or industry workforce planning, ideally within horticulture or agriculture✔️ Sound knowledge of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) environment and training providers✔️ Ability to build rapport with people from diverse age groups and backgrounds✔️ Familiarity with relevant government departments and agencies that support workforce and industry development✔️ Some knowledge of visa systems and programs for horticulture workers✔️ Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills✔️ Excellent organisational and time management abilities✔️ Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel regionally as requiredWhy Work for BFVG?Bundaberg Fruit & Vegetable Growers (BFVG) Ltd is a profit-for-purpose organisation representing horticulture producers across the Wide Bay Burnett and Gympie regions — with our current programs now also extending into the Sunshine Coast, Darling Downs, and Banana areas.
