Description:
We are seeking to appoint a savvy individual who will work as a team member providing administrative support to the Division of Anatomical Pathology and Cytopathology at Princess Alexandra Hospital – Pathology Queensland. The responsibilities include ensuring that all laboratory practices comply with Pathology Queensland requirements in providing an effective and efficient service to the District Health Services Statewide, participation in the Statewide Medical Typing Pool and meeting the deadlines and work priorities of the workplace in cooperation with other team members as directed by the Chief Scientist.
The Division of Anatomical Pathology and Cytopathology provides a range of services including diagnostic surgical pathology, non-gynaecological cytopathology and autopsy services. The Division also provides referral services, registrar training, and multidisciplinary clinico-pathological review meetings to regional and tertiary referral teaching hospitals across the state.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Current knowledge of medical terminology and well-developed keyboard and data entry skills.
- Ability to determine priorities, coordinate and finalise work within required time frames.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to enable communication with internal and external clients.
- Ability to register and track Anatomical Pathology material (slides and blocks).
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- While not mandatory, completion of a medical typing or medical terminology course or previous experience in anatomical pathology medical typing would be well regarded.
