About the Role

This role will assist in the operation and maintenance of Townsville City Council’s wastewater treatment plants including monitoring, recording and reporting on all facets of treatment plant operations. This is to ensure the continuous operation of the plant and to achieve a level of treatment in accordance with the requirement of Environmental Protection Act and the conditions set out in the Environmental Licenses of the different wastewater treatment plants.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Forklift certificate of competency (desirable)
  • Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD)
  • Trade certificate within the electrical or mechanical field (desirable)
  • Manual handling, laboratory and field-testing skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently, including the ability to operate a wastewater treatment plant for short periods without operator intervention
  • Ability to read and understand basic mechanical and civil engineering drawings
  • Ability to understand and operate treatment plant control (SCADA) Systems
  • Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and monitoring of biological wastewater treatment plants including waste activated sludge, biological nutrient removal, membrane or attached film treatment
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 12 months duration in municipal wastewater, mining or other process industry requiring the operation of plant and equipment
  • Current “C” class driver’s licence
