The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the provision of advice regarding the day-to-day running of financial operations, accrual accounting, costings and financial analysis for the organisation.

Your Opportunity

As The Finance Officer You Will Be Responsible For

  • Contribute to the effective financial operations at TAFE Queensland by undertaking integrated activities within a dynamic team-based environment.
  • Maintain the integrity of TAFE Queensland’s accounting system and ensure that it complies with prescribed accounting procedures.


This position reports to the Corporate Finance Manager.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity unless otherwise determined.

The position will be based primarily at Mount Gravatt Campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out tasks of a financial nature including payment of accounts, invoicing, corporate card management, journals, and general debtors.
  • Keep detailed accurate records of transactions using a variety of systems and computing packages including Microsoft Office & Technology One.
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with policy guidelines, practices and procedures within the organisation.
  • Liaise with officers of other Departments, Corporate and Regions in regard to financial administration policies, systems and procedures.
  • Support the month end process as required.
  • Contribute to improvement in business processes & practises.
  • Undertake any other specific tasks and duties as directed by your manager to support Corporate, Regional and TAFE Queensland initiatives.
  • Perform your daily activities to promote and support the TAFE Queensland values of Safety First, Working Together, and Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.
  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the values of Safety First, Working Together, Focusing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.


How You Will Be Assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Possess sound analytical skills with the ability to effectively communicate outcomes across a client base with varying levels of financial acumen.
  • Possess an understanding of financial processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrate sound organisational ability.


Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Possession of an appropriate qualification in Accounting or Commerce.
  • At least three years financial accounting and systems experience.
  • Demonstrated level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
