About the opportunity:
An exciting opportunity is available for Data Analyst/Scientist professionals at various levels to join the Data Analytics team with the Strategic Policy & Data Analytics Branch. Data Analysts are responsible for using extensive domain knowledge and analytical skills to interpret and analyse data from multiple sources and provide intelligence to support decision making and/or evaluation. This includes seeking to understand problems and questions, acquiring information, documenting definitions and business processes, using a variety of software, tools, statistical and non-statistical techniques.
About you:
We're seeking Data Analyst/Scientist professionals with varied levels of experience, who have extensive domain knowledge and analytical skills and can work collaboratively and with key stakeholders:
To be successful you will have:
- Knowledge / experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, Data Engineer or equivalent.
- Knowledge / experience analysing data.
- Knowledge / experience in using analytical and presentation tools to analyse information, develop reports, dashboards and self-service tools using contemporary business intelligence software.
- Ability to think laterally and apply analytical, qualitive and research skills to analyse issues and develop appropriate recommendations and strategies for resolution.
- Ability to establish and maintain successful collaborations, networks and working relationships, engaging with agency representatives, communicating with stakeholders and negotiating to achieve the best outcome.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team member and work with agility to deliver quality outcomes for stakeholders in a complex sensitive environment.
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal, including the capacity to convey information in a clear, succinct manner on data analytics and intelligence with key internal and external stakeholders.
- High-level organisational and time management skills, significant levels of independent judgement, delegated authority, initiative and strategic thinking to manage complex issues and competing priorities.

The Strategic Policy and Data Analytics branch is responsible for delivering robust analysis, advice and solutions to priority reforms, policy and budget issues. The branch delivers projects that address complex policy, data and financial challenges to deliver improved outcomes across social and economic policy areas, as well as providing whole of government policy and advice on financial management matters. The branch also works collaboratively with agencies identified as holding a 'material and/or systemic budget risk' status to analyse financial performance and implement a comprehensive plan to achieve budget.
