Job Title: Elders Care Support Worker
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elders Care Support Worker to assist Aboriginal elders in Central Coast, New South Wales with personalised care, access to health services, cultural workshops, and advocacy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and cultural protocols, as well as experience working in the Aged Care Sector.
Skills:
1. Knowledge and experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Elders and older people
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
3. Ability to provide personalised care for elders
4. Experience working in the social, emotional and wellbeing sectors - in particular Aged Care
5. Advocacy skills to promote well-being and cultural integrity
Responsibilities:
1. Provide personalised care for Aboriginal elders based on their individual needs
2. Assist elders in accessing health services and support networks
3. Organise cultural workshops and activities to promote well-being and cultural integrity
4. Advocate on behalf of elders to ensure their rights are upheld within the community
Qualifications:
1. Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or relevant qualification and or minimum 2 years industry experience
2.. Previous experience working with elderly individuals, within the Aboriginal community
3.. Understanding of Aboriginal culture, customs, values, beliefs
4.. Strong communication skills
