The Role

As an Enrolled Nurse in SESLHD, you will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of person-centred care; and support other nurses/ midwives and care roles. You will strive to ensure that the people who receive healthcare experience exceptional care that is person-centred, safe, high quality and compassionate.

As an Enrolled Nurse in Prince of Wales Hospital, you will be encouraged to share your clinical expertise and further develop your practice with the professional development opportunities available.
As an Enrolled Nurse you will work under the direct and indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse and retain responsibility for your own actions and remain accountable to the Registered Nurse for all allocated functions.
Some of the key functions of the Enrolled Nurse is to practice in accordance with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Boards Standards of Practice:

  • Functions in accordance with the law, policies and procedures affecting EN practice
  • Practices nursing in a way that ensures the rights, confidentiality, dignity and respect of people is upheld
  • Accepts accountability and responsibility for own actions
  • Interprets information from a range of sources in order to contribute to planning appropriate care
  • Collaborates with the RN, the person receiving care and the healthcare team when developing plans of care
  • Provides skilled and timely care to people whilst promoting their independence and involvement in care decision-making
  • Communicates and uses documentation to inform and report care
  • Provides nursing care that is informed by research evidence
  • Practices within safety and quality improvement guidelines and standards
  • Engages in ongoing development of self as a professional

Selection Criteria

  1. Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with Medication endorsement.
  2. Demonstrated recent clinical experience as an Enrolled Nurse that applies to a INSERT SPECIALITY clinical setting
  3. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and be able to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  4. Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  5. Current computer skills and ability to use health information systems.
  6. Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement person-centred practice.
  7. Demonstrated application of evidence-based practice and critical thinking to patient care.
  8. Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload.
