About the Role
Victoria University TAFE (VU TAFE)Western Melbourne English Program is looking for qualified sessional EAL teachers to deliver our EAL courses to students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
The EAL Teacher is responsible for preparing and delivering classes focused on English as an Additional Language qualification. Key responsibilities include:

Planning and preparing for your classes

Assessing

Supporting student learning

Adhering to compliance practices and administrative processes
About You
Our teaching team is looking for dedicated sessional teachers eager to bring their industry experience to the classroom. If you’re an experienced EAL teacher passionate about inspiring and empowering learners, we would love to hear from you!
You must hold:
-
TAE40116 or TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or TAE40110 with upgrade units TAELLN411 and TAEASS502 or can provide proof of enrolment in TAE40122 or upgrade or be willing to obtain one.
And one of the following with each including a 22-day supervised teaching practicum in TESOL:

A four-year Bachelor of Education, with TESOL as a method.

A bachelor’s degree plus a Master of Teaching with TESOL as a method.

A bachelor’s degree plus Graduate Diploma of Education with TESOL as a method.

An undergraduate bachelor’s degree plus a postgraduate TESOL qualification at AQF 8 or above that includes a 22-day supervised teaching practicum in TESOL, such as a:

Graduate Certificate in Education (TESOL)
-
Graduate Certificate in TESOL
-
Graduate Diploma in TESOL
-
Graduate Diploma of Education with a TESOL method
-
Master of TESOL/Master of Applied Linguistics/Master of Arts (TESOL)

Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one.
Salary and Conditions of Employment
-
For the sessional teaching roles, the hourly rate payable is $95.01 per hour inclusive of 25% sessional loading plus superannuation.

Conditions of employment will be covered by Victoria University's Vocational Teacher Enterprise Agreement 2025.
