Project Overview:

The Ranger rehabilitation project is well under way. After more than 35 years operating as a successful uranium mine, the Ranger Project is entering its rehabilitation stage and offers an exciting opportunity for you to make a positive impact on the environment. Bechtel have been engaged to support the project as a Delivery Partner for ongoing study and project execution works. Bechtel will be working alongside ERA, and major stakeholder Rio Tinto to restore the land to the status of its surrounding World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. A collaborative project, this project has been developed in consultation with the Mirarr Traditional Owners and will benefit the Jabiru NT community.

Located 8 km east of Jabiru and 260 km south-east of Darwin, the Ranger Project will lead the way in the fast-growing area of mining closures. This is your opportunity to join an established team, develop as a professional, and work in partnership with our client – contributing to a long-term commitment to people, communities and the environment. This role is located in our Brisbane office.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership".

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs generally non-routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
  • Coordinates the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports
  • Coordinates the development and accuracy of cost reports
  • Verifies consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency
  • Prepares specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures
  • Investigates the requirements for estimating and/or cost control data
  • Collects and classifies cost data
  • Performs budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
  • Identifies cost trends for management attention
  • Prepares cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or demonstrated, relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Solid project controls experience in cost control including reporting.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Extensive cost engineering experience with previous experience on large/complex projects.
  • Must possess good interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analysing and solving problems.
