The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Contract Administrator with a passion for delivering complex construction and engineering projects? We are currently seeking a Contract Administrator for a key role based in Mackay, working on major projects with a strong focus on compliance, contract management, and stakeholder engagement.
This is a full-time temporary position running from 21 July 2025 to 23 January 2026 , with a strong possibility of extension . Please note, this is not a FIFO role - applicants must reside in Mackay or within a commutable driving distance .
Key Responsibilities
- Administer construction and engineering contracts by undertaking regular site inspections, managing site meetings, and ensuring compliance with standard procedures.
- Issue variation orders, assess contractual claims, and process contractor requests for information.
- Ensure Building Act Compliance inspections are carried out with proper documentation.
- Support the Superintendent in resolving contract-related disputes and assist in managing post-contract performance evaluations.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project stakeholders regarding cost, time, and quality matters.
- Implement and uphold contract administration policies and procedures aligned with government frameworks and organisational standards.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Apply employment equity and workplace health and safety principles in all work practices.
About You
- Solid knowledge of contract administration processes, particularly in traditional and non-traditional contracts.
- Understanding of the contractual obligations of all parties involved and a commitment to applying them honestly and fairly.
- Experience administering government building contracts is highly desirable.
- Ability to identify and manage risks, maintain clear documentation, and ensure procedural compliance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with internal teams, contractors, and clients.
- Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.
