Description

About the Role

In this vital role, you will lead a team of drivers and subcontractors, coordinate complex freight movements, and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure seamless, safe, and timely deliveries. Your leadership will drive operational efficiency and uphold the high standards our customers expect.

If you are organised, solution-focused, and ready to make a real impact through your leadership, join us and become an essential part of a logistics team shaping the future of freight management.

Primary Responsibilities :
  • Take full ownership of daily freight operations, managing all end-to-end freight movements while ensuring compliance with legislation, company policies, and customer expectations.

  • Support company and subcontractor drivers and forklift operators by overseeing timesheet administration, maintaining induction records, and preparing daily start time sheets.

  • Create and coordinate loads for trucks and trailers, working closely with fleet, warehousing, and transport partners to maximise fleet utilisation.

  • Process supplier documents promptly and accurately, including receipting inbound freight and reporting any discrepancies.

  • Manage outbound freight by manifesting loads, completing load restraint audits, and planning loads to ensure the fleet is fully utilised.

  • Liaise with third-party suppliers and maintenance teams to ensure vehicles under your control are properly serviced and maintained.

  • Order essential consumables like DG diamonds and EIP panels to support smooth freight operations.

  • Provide responsive telephone support for customer and internal queries related to freight status, vehicles, and operational systems such as Tollworks.

  • Maintain accurate data entry across Tollworks and other databases, ensuring all freight movements are logged and CSR concerns are resolved promptly.

  • Conduct weekly audits of old stock and maintain detailed spreadsheets for freight stored outside existing databases.

  • Keep thorough records for subcontractor compliance, warehouse footprint, freight movement, and container and trailer tracking for interstate shipments.

  • Ensure all administrative tasks, including leave forms and unload sheets, are completed and submitted as required to support freight management.

Skills And Experiences
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
  • Is self-motivated and thrives working independently, even under pressure, without needing constant direction.

  • Builds and maintains strong client relationships through clear, timely, and effective communication.

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams remotely.

  • Can prioritise competing tasks and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

  • Is genuinely committed to delivering excellent customer service, responsive to the needs of both internal and external customers.

  • Develops and nurtures positive working relationships with senior management, cross-functional teams, and regulatory bodies.

  • Thinks creatively and acts proactively with a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
