We are currently seeking suitably qualified Registered Nurses for the role of Nurse Educator, Grade 2 Oncology Services for a temporary (secondment backfill) part time (0.5 FTE) position based at Children’s hospital at Westmead.

The Nurse Educator develops capability of the workforce to respond to current and emerging paediatric areas of healthcare, by identifying opportunities, developing, delivering and evaluating programs and courses for the nursing education service across the identified Nurse Educator Oncology Services portfolio.

This is 0.5 of a 1.0 FTE job shared portfolio which includes all of Oncology services including Camperdown, Variety Ward, Oncology Treatment Centre, the Senior Oncology nursing group, Palliative Care Service and other medical program clinical areas. Collaboration across the entire 1.0FTE of this portfolio is key. This role also includes identified Network projects.

What you'll be doing


The Nurse Educator develops and delivers nursing education programs and courses for a specific portfolio or across a clinical division.
The Nurse Educator identifies opportunities to develop the capability of the workforce to respond to current and emerging paediatric areas of healthcare.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Relevant post registration nursing/ midwifery clinical or education qualifications relevant to the clinical area.
  3. Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate education and training programs for paediatrics and adolescents within the portfolio or responsibility.
  4. Demonstrated effective leadership skills including the ability to communicate, negotiate and problem solve.
  5. Demonstrate evidence of the provision of relevant education material and programs that incorporate the use of adult learning principles.
  6. Evidence of being professionally active within the specialty area of paediatrics and adolescents demonstrating self-motivation along with competence in managing competing priorities to deliver quality outcomes
  7. Evidence of preparation of written submissions and reports and demonstrated skills in the use of MS Office
