Indigeco is partnering with one of Australia’s leading Tier 1 construction contractors to recruit an experienced Project Manager for a landmark infrastructure initiative.This is an identified position, open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
About the Role
As the Project Manager, you will play a central role in delivering high-value infrastructure projects on time and budget. You will oversee all aspects of project planning and execution, working closely with site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and senior stakeholders to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and promote strong HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment & Quality) compliance across site operations.
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of contract administration , including insurances, bonds, and project-specific documentation.
- Monitor construction programs and critical path activities.
- Manage commercial reporting, monthly claims, subcontractor payments, and contract variations.
- Negotiate and manage supplier and subcontractor agreements.
- Facilitate key project meetings, including pre-starts, fortnightly reviews, and foreman briefings.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and site management to ensure smooth delivery.
- Provide mentorship and delegation to Construction Engineers and junior staff.
- Support design management and project risk management processes.
- Contribute to team culture and knowledge-sharing across project teams.
Key Requirements
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander – this is an identified position under Section 8 of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.
- Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager in civil construction or infrastructure delivery.
- Proven ability to:
- Interpret and manage complex contracts
- Track construction programs and manage to critical deadlines
- Control costs, budgets, and procurement for large-scale works
- Strong skills in:
- Claims preparation, subcontractor payment management, and valuations
- Reviewing contract correspondence and liaising with superintendents or clients
- Identifying and managing contract variations and time extensions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Strong leadership and delegation abilities – capable of developing junior team members and Construction Engineers.
- Practical understanding of risk management, lead times, cost code accuracy, and compliance.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with Construction Managers and other senior leadership.
- Willingness to travel locally or interstate as required by project needs.
