Description:

This position will be responsible for the delivery of major capital projects including leading a team involved in project planning, procurement, contract administration, project management, contractor liaison and other support necessary to implement the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships (QPWS&P) capital works and maintenance programs for infrastructure on parks and forests.

The role also plays an ongoing role in driving business improvement functions associated with the development, planning, procurement, delivery and governance to support the statewide capital delivery program.

As The Principal Project Officer, You Will

  • Coordinate, manage or lead projects and/or project teams to ensure successful and timely delivery of capital program outcomes in support of the Department's strategic direction.
  • Develop and monitor the budget associated with the program, incorporating funding submissions, , reporting and auditing functions.
  • Lead the development of administrative governance arrangements such as systems, procedures, and operational works programs and provide executive guidance to committees and boards.
  • Coordinate and monitor the capital program's activities including planning, visitor information and education elements and capital works, in compliance with legislated obligations and statutory requirements.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with community, indigenous peoples, stakeholders, agencies and industries to underpin the success of capital projects.
  • Provide specialist advice including policy support and interpretation of the Acts and related departmental policies, practices and processes to senior management on matters relevant to the capital program.
  • Prepare and/or coordinate briefing notes, program plans, submissions, reports and correspondence associated with the program.
  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
