The Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA) was founded in 1881 and its vision is to be the most inspiring art destination in Australia. Role Details

The role reports to the Director, AGSA and works as part of the Executive Management Team providing strategic advice on AGSA's artistic and collection programs. The role will lead and oversee the Curatorial, Exhibitions, Tarnanthi and Registration teams to effectively manage a dynamic and ambitious artistic program that delivers on AGSA's Strategic Plan, stewarding a high level of collaboration and teamwork. The role has a strong focus on AGSA's First Nations artistic programs and stewarding relationships with First Nations artists and stakeholders.


Special Conditions
  • Appointment to the PO6 will only occur if the professional officer is personally recognised as having a national and international reputation as a specialist in the professional discipline confirmed by peers and endorsed by the publication of papers and external invitations to teach or speak to professional bodies/educational institutions on subject material which demands high level professional expertise.
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks (NCCHC) (required for all roles)
  • Working With Children Check
  • The Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Management Program.
  • The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.


Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in Art History including a high level of scholarship and substantial record of authoritative publications, and recognition as an expert in the curatorial and museum sector is an essential requirement.
