A little about Local

Local is a Melbourne-born BTR business that focuses on creating and managing communities built entirely for renters. We believe in using our homes to strengthen communities and create positive change by making renting sustainable and secure for Australians, while connecting them with communities they love. Now Australia’s largest BTR platform, Local has a completed portfolio value of over $2.46B with 3,246 apartments across the eastern seaboard in 6 prime neighbourhoods. It’s important to us to provide homes for people who, through no fault of their own, don’t have suitable places to live. That’s why at least 10% of each of our projects is committed to supplying homes for social, affordable and specialist disability accommodation.

Our people are our greatest asset, and our team is made up of unique personalities and skillsets who share the common goal of creating thriving communities in great neighborhoods. If that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, read on!

A little about the opportunity

We’re on the hunt for a senior leader to join team and be responsible for the day-to-day corporate operations of Local: Residential, ensuring continuous process improvement and leading the implementation of strategic initiatives that position the platform for long-term stability, growth and success.

In addition to overseeing operations, the person in this role also serves as the Head of Corporate, Human Resources, ESG and Growth - responsible for the execution of Local’s HR strategy and fostering a high-performing, inclusive, and purpose-driven workplace culture. The role importantly leads the development and implementation of Local’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, ensuring alignment with industry best-practice and accountability to the Board and stakeholders.

In short, we’re on the hunt for a key leader who promotes Local’s values and positively represents the organisation to enhance its image, impact, and reputation.

· You’re a proficient talent manager: You have the ability to attract, develop, and retain the best talent, including the ability to identify skills gaps and develop strategies to address them.

· Organisational design and efficiency: The ability to design and structure the organisation to optimise performance and achieve business objectives.

· You’re a great communicator: You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The good bits

For some, a job is a job. A means to an end. This might be fine for others, but it’s not what motivates us. What we’re doing requires perseverance, intensity, zeal, and energy in the face of new challenges.

We’re super proud to have created a unique culture where our people are encouraged to be endlessly curious and always empowered to speak up, because we’re not into saying ‘that’s just the way we do things’ or ‘that’ll do’. We’re not all work and no play though, we love rewarding our people for the work that they do and we’re big believers in having FUN.

So, how does that translate? Here’s a little about our perks…

· The days of the 9 to 5 are long gone. Our team can work a day per week from home and choose their start and finish times, so long as we’re all together for our core collaboration hours.

· We’re ready to support each and every member of our team to learn, develop, grow, and thrive. Whether it’s a tuition reimbursement, short course, or conference, we’ve got you covered.

· Our leadership development program gives our teams a clear pathway to their dream job and access to leadership training so they can lead, motivate, and mentor the leaders of tomorrow.

· Extra days to disconnect. We give our team additional Fridays off throughout the year to focus on themselves, their loved ones and their overall wellbeing. We also encourage community impact days.

· We love merch and our team do too. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted with your very own set on day one!

· From sips and chips (knock off drinks, but with chips), fun Fridays and team lunches, our social club are serious about creating good times, often.

· We’re pretty sure our awesome people probably know other awesome people. Refer one to join the team and we’ll reward you once they’ve completed their probationary period.

· Tri’s, rides, marathons, and fun runs, we’ll pay the entry fees for team fitness challenges, match charity donations, and we’ll be the cheer squad, too.

· We know there’s no Planet B, so we help our team preserve Planet A through our salary sacrificing program for EV vehicles.

· Paid parental leave policy, because we need to take care of our Little Locals, too!

· Additional tenure perks. Every year, you’ll get an annual wellness. After 3 years at Local, you’ll get to enjoy an additional 3 days of annual leave that year, on us. After 5 years, take an extra 5 days that year!
