My client, LiquaForce RLF Queensland has production plants in Ingham and Mackay which manufacture liquid fertiliser for the agricultural industry; primarily for sugar cane, but also for other crops.
The Mackay plant will appoint a permanent full time HC Truck Driver / Production Assistant to work closely with the Plant Manager. We are looking for someone who meets the requirements as advertised, and someone who works well in a team, is dependable and who strives to deliver quality work. The role liaises with farmers, truck drivers, contractor applicators and other team members such as salespersons and admin.
What does this role do?
Your role has two key functions – as a HC Truck Driver you will transport bulk fertiliser in a semi tipper from our suppliers to our factory and will load and unload product with a forklift. Occasionally you will also deliver product to our clients in our MR truck. You will be responsible for completing basic visual inspections and minor running maintenance on the trucks.
When not truck driving, you will undertake the role of Production Assistant, supporting the Plant Manager to create batches of quality liquid fertilisers. This involves handling and mixing non-toxic raw ingredients to manufacture large batches of liquid fertilizer to the required standards, and completing basic administration such as run sheets, delivery dockets and timesheets, and printing off and applying product labels. You will also ensure the production area is kept clean and safe and assist in routine minor plant maintenance.
What are the working hours?
The working hours are 38 hours per week worked Monday to Friday, typically commencing at 5 or 6am – 2 or 3pm with 30 minutes unpaid lunch and reasonable additional hours as agreed. You must be able to commit to working short hours on occasional Saturdays and Sundays at overtime rates. Our peak season from August to December is very fast paced and will involve earlier start times and some 10 hour working days. Public holidays are not worked.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
- HC License and HC truck driving experience is mandatory
- Forklift Driver Certificate of Competence is mandatory
- Labouring experience and a strong willingness to learn
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and regularly lift 25kg bags
- Sound verbal and numeracy skills
- Basic computer skills and completion of paperwork ability
- Collaborative team player
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage own time efficiently
- Work ethic, reliability and ability to commit to full time work
- Willingness to travel to our Ingham plant occasionally during the year
