The Opportunity

Our newly created role of Executive Director Finance and Governance is a pivotal addition to our exceptional Executive Leadership Team.

Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as Company Secretary, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for finance, governance, compliance, risk, audit, and legal functions.

This is a unique opportunity to shape strategic direction, ensure regulatory excellence, and foster a culture of accountability and innovation across the organisation. You will be instrumental in supporting Murray PHN’s mission to improve health outcomes and equity across our diverse regional communities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the Finance and Governance Business Unit, overseeing financial strategy, budgeting, compliance, and risk management.
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO and Board, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Champion a culture of performance, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders including the Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing and Murray PHN Board.
  • Oversee governance frameworks, regulatory and funder compliance, enterprise-wide risk management and corporate reporting.
  • Drive financial strategic planning and business resilience initiatives.

About you

Key Capabilities

  • CPA or CA qualified with extensive experience in financial leadership, ideally a minimum of 10 years’ developing strong commercial judgement and the ability to assimilate and synthesise complex financial, regulatory and legal information
  • Substantial governance leadership that includes risk management and the legal and regulatory compliance of an organisation with a charitable and/or non-profit purpose
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and drive strategic outcomes through coaching, building capability and fostering employee alignment to the strategic vision and values of the organisation
  • An ability to participate in robust discussion as a collegial member of the Executive group and influence and negotiate outcomes of strategic value
  • Exceptional communication and engagement skills with the ability to clearly articulate strategies, risks and rationale for change to Board level
  • A connection with the Murray PHN catchment, our values and vision
