The Bank is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join the Network Service Project team on a fixed term contract until December 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer with great Cisco networking and infrastructure provisioning experience.
The Bank is currently on the journey towards Software Defined networking and your skills and experience will be used and uplifted to support these key next generation networks including ACI, Zero Trust Networking with Software Defined Access, SD-WAN & Azure Cloud.
About the team
You will report to the Network Services Project Team Lead, within the Network Services team. The Network Services team is part of the Infrastructure Services section of IT.
As part of the team, you will provide expert services in relation to roll out of new infrastructure refresh with relation to traditional and ACI network, F5 infrastructure and firewalls all the while providing a service-oriented approach.
About the role
- Network Architecture and Design: Collaborate with stakeholders to design scalable, secure, and efficient network solutions that align with organisational objectives.
- Project Planning and Coordination: Lead and coordinate network deployment projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Implementation and Deployment: Oversee the installation, configuration, and commissioning of network hardware and software components.
- Performance Testing and Optimisation: Conduct thorough testing of network systems to ensure performance, reliability, and security. Implement optimizations as necessary.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network designs, configurations, and deployment processes. Provide regular updates to stakeholders.
- Training and Support: Provide training to internal teams on new network systems and offer ongoing support to address any issues post-deployment.
- Undertake acceptance tests and commissioning communications systems and equipment
- Occasional scheduled work at our Business Resumption Site at Bella Vista will be required
- Work with cyber security team to improve Bank’s protections and remediate vulnerabilities
About you
- Proven expertise in designing and deploying end-to-end network infrastructure. Familiarity with protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
- Strong knowledge of Networking infrastructure covering both Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and Wireless, preferably Cisco
- Strong experience with Firewalls - Cisco/Palo Alto/Fortinet and applicable management tools to manage such as Cisco Security Manager (CSM).
- Degree preferred in IT coupled with Industry accreditations in Cisco and ITIL
- Expertise with network tools such as Cisco DNA Centre
- Expertise with F5 (LTM, GTM and BIGIQ) and SD-WAN
- Experience in writing policies and procedures and other support documentation
- Experience or willingness to learn: Python and relevant scripting languages to automate activities
- Good general knowledge of IT infrastructure and service management practices.
- Good working knowledge or willingness to learn Network management tools like: Stat seeker and Infoblox.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform, Ansible, Git
- Project Management: Strong organisational skills with experience in managing end-to-end network deployment projects.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyse complex network issues and develop effective solutions.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.
