Two-year contract | Full-Time Academic Level A | $88,842 to $107,666 plus 17% superannuation Location: Loxton, South Australia View Position Description

About the Role

The College of Science and Engineering is seeking a Research Associate in Hydrogeology to contribute to a One Basin Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) project on water banking for enhanced drought resilience in Loxton, South Australia. The position involves contributing to research design, delivery and communication, with a focus on identifying and assessing high-potential water banking sites across the Murray-Darling Basin.

Key responsibilities include:

Contributing to the planning, coordination and execution of project activities to meet research milestones. Undertaking literature reviews, producing data, maps, reports and publications, and presenting findings to diverse audiences. Collaborating with industry partners and stakeholders to support project goals and engagement.

About You

You are a motivated researcher with a strong foundation in hydrogeology and a passion for applied, industry-engaged science. With a track record in research and publication, you have excellent knowledge and technical skills in spatial data analysis, mapping and Geographical Information Systems.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

A PhD (or near completion) in hydrogeology or a related field, or equivalent work experience Experience in water recourse management within the Australian context , including knowledge of water quality and quantity management. Experience with Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) or water banking design (desired) Skills in numerical modelling or programming (e.g., Python, PHREEQC, MODFLOW) (desired) Experience in both qualitative and quantitative hydrogeological methods (desired)
