About The Role

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced employee relations professional to take on a position in the People Services team. The area is responsible for employee relations, policies and procedures, payroll and establishment management, analysis and reporting, rehabilitation, work health and safety and recruitment administration. This team contributes to achieving the workforce plan objectives of attraction, retention and providing a safe workplace.

As the specialist consultant, you will be the organisation's expert in employee relations and case management. You will provide expert advice, complex case management, advocacy, and policy and procedure development. You will be working closely with internal and external stakeholders including the Office of Industrial Relations, Employment Law Specialists and the Together Union.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Undertake complex case management, which may include performance, complaints, discipline, unfair dismissal, discrimination, and appeals.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate investigations into complaints.
  • Provide expert advice on case management and employee relations matters, including interpretation of awards, certified agreements, legislation and policies.
  • Prepare briefing notes, correspondence and other documents associated with case management and employee relations matters.
  • Monitor legislative changes and prepare policies and procedures to ensure they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Contribute as necessary to Award changes and enterprise bargaining in conjunction with relevant government agencies.
  • Appear as an industrial advocate in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission and other tribunals.
  • Negotiate with unions and employee representatives on industrial relations matters.
  • Contribute to Agency Consultative Committee (ACC) meetings as required and complete work associated with ACC actions.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and attend meetings as required.


How You Will Be Assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following capabilities:

  • You have experience in complex case management and employee relation matters including, industrial advocacy.
  • You can provide advice on employee relations issues and interpret legislation and other instruments.
  • You have strong communication skills, write in a clear, concise and articulate manner and have experience preparing policies, procedures, briefing notes and other business documents.
