- Salary: Band 3 - $63,329.67 to $67,440.70 + super + fortnighly RDO
We're seeking two Municipal Maintenance Officers to join our team.
These roles are responsible for delivering effective and efficient civil maintenance services, ensuring tasks are completed safely and to high standards. The focus is on maintaining a safe, clean, and tidy public environment.
You’ll be part of a large, supportive team and work under the guidance of a Leading Hand who ensures all team members are trained and equipped to perform their duties effectively.
What you’ll be working on:
You'll perform a variety of general labouring and cleaning tasks, including:

- Safe and efficient operation of sweeper vehicles
- Sweeping streets, roads, sidewalks, and public areas
- Managing sweeper equipment (brushes, water sprayers, etc.)
- Conducting pre-start checks and operating vehicles (Ute or medium rigid truck)
- Collecting loose litter manually and mechanically, including hazardous items (e.g., syringes, glass)
- Graffiti removal using appropriate cleaning products
- Operating mechanical bin lifters to empty street litter bins
- Cleaning public toilets and BBQs daily
- Driving garbage compactor trucks or assisting as a runner
- Weed management using a steaming unit in residential areas
- Operating sand sifting equipment to clean foreshore areas
- Consistent application of OHS policies and procedures
- Maintaining equipment in clean and safe condition, reporting defects
- Performing other duties as directed, consistent with the role
Qualifications & Licences
- Relevant certifications and tickets for operating skid steers, trucks, and other equipment (advantageous)
- Training in OHS processes (advantageous)
- Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence with Medium Rigid endorsement
Skills & Knowledge
- Basic maintenance of plant and equipment
- Proficient use of hand tools (drills, grinders, shovels, etc.)
- Understanding or willingness to learn city cleansing and maintenance standards
- Knowledge of OHS and safe manual handling practices
- Ability to perform consistent manual labour in varied outdoor conditions
Experience required
- Previous experience in similar maintenance tasks
- Experience working in outdoor and public environments
- Ability to work positively and professionally in community settings
