Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Welder (First Class) to contribute to the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal structures and equipment across CAIT’s agricultural operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing high-quality welding tasks, fabricating metal components, and ensuring the integrity and safety of farming infrastructure and machinery.
The role is based on a remote cattle station approximately 200 km from the nearest town. This is a permanent, full-time position with the potential for long-term employment.
This role is essential for supporting large-scale agricultural land management and infrastructure projects in Northern Australia.
Key Responsibilities
In line with the ANZSCO description, duties include:
- Performing advanced welding tasks using techniques such as MIG, TIG, ARC, and oxy-acetylene welding.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal structures and equipment parts.
- Inspecting welds and metal components for quality and compliance with safety standards.
- Operating welding and cutting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborating with maintenance and engineering teams to support farm infrastructure reliability.
- Ensuring all work adheres to workplace health and safety regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent qualification.
- At least three years’ experience as a Welder (First Class) or equivalent.
- Proficiency in multiple welding methods including MIG, TIG, and ARC welding.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Capability to work independently in regional and remote environments.
- Sound understanding of occupational health and safety practices.

- English language proficiency sufficient to meet workplace communication requirements.
