Your role at St John of God Bunbury Hospital

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly organised Environmental Services Coordinator (Cleaning and Waste Management) to lead and supervise the Environmental Service team.

Your role will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of cleaning and waste management in the hospital, as well as resolving operational issues in a timely manner and escalating unresolved issues.

The role is offered on a Permanent full-time basis, hours of work are Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm

The Position:

  • Lead and provide daily management for the Environmental Services team and physical resources, including direct leadership during peak periods.

  • Periodically review, re-evaluate and revise caregiver tasks, procedures and duty statements to meet the needs of the services as well as coordinating performance reviews and coaching for Environmental Services caregivers to ensure their knowledge, skill and attitude are aligned with the goals of the service and the Mission.

  • Resolve performance issues and disciplinary matters up to and including written warnings in consultation with the Manager Hotel Services and HR.

  • Manage operational service equipment and personal issue equipment (e.g. uniforms and PPE), including regular checks, audits and resolving of issues.

  • Create and maintain a harmonious relationship with Clinical Managers and caregivers to promote an efficient communication process to immediately address cleaning requirements or concerns.

  • Assist with management of external contractors that provides the following: Sharps and Sanitary Disposal & Management

  • Prepare rosters and maintain leave liability and productivity hours to ensure efficiency and cost effective resources within budget.

  • Run training sessions, in-services, meetings, tool-boxes and ensure online training is completed on time to keep all Environmental Services caregivers informed, well trained and ready for their duties.

  • Ensure that any agency staff and contractors are suitability trained, inducted and supervised for their duties.

  • Monitor compliance and ensure all Environmental services procedures and processes adhere to SJGMPPH standards, policies and statutory requirements.

  • Ensure that Environmental Services keep accurate records and ensure the integrity and completeness of the Environmental Services database and electronic filing.

To thrive in the role, you will have previous operational and leadership experience within environmental operations, possess strong relationship-building skills with key stakeholders and have the ability to independently manage a multi-disciplinary team.

You will have a significant knowledge of cleaning and infection control standards in health care with well-developed computer skills and working knowledge of a range of MS Office software packages and systems.

  • Salary: $79,060 to $85,129 per annum, plus 12% superannuation
