THE ROLE

As the organisation continues to grow in complexity and influence, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and strategic Senior Executive Officer to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to join the Office of the Chief Executive Officer (OCEO). Reporting to the Director, OCEO, this high-trust role is central in supporting and enabling the CEO to lead with focus, foresight and impact.

Providing dedicated executive assistant and project support to the CEO, the Senior Executive Officer supports the CEO by ensuring they are informed, prepared and supported across a wide spectrum of responsibilities — from major health system initiatives to operational priorities. The role also contributes directly to delivering key targets within the CEO’s Performance Agreement with SA Health and upholding best practice in governance, communications and stakeholder engagement.

THE CANDIDATE

Working across the health system and closely with senior leadership, government officials, the Department for Health and Wellbeing, WCHN staff and external stakeholders, the role demands sophisticated judgement, political acumen and a solutions-focused mindset. A strong capacity to manage sensitive information, oversee complex enquiries and foster collaborative relationships is essential.

The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience supporting executive leaders in high-pressure, politically complex environments — ideally within government, health, or a large public sector organisation. A background in executive coordination, governance, strategic projects or stakeholder management will be well regarded. Exceptional communication, discretion and a respectful and influential presence are essential, along with alignment with a values-led culture.
