Join the Department of Education with a new exciting permanent opportunity available as a Senior Computer Systems Officer within the Design and Delivery Team, Enterprise Technology Services. The team is project specialists focused on delivering tailored ICT solutions at individual sites, such as new buildings, existing schools and corporate projects. We co-ordinate the development of ICT cabling network and equipment installations while assuring they comply with the Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture ICT Cabling Infrastructure Standard and the DoE Network Infrastructure Procedures and Standards (DNIPS), and delivering the outcomes in a structured manner.About The Department Of Education

Why this Role?
- Be responsible for detailed designing of active network hardware & structured cabling (e.g. VoIP/Wireless) requirements for various projects.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of standardised processes, approaches, documented procedures, and other related technical documentation.
- Provide technical and non-technical advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to the specific accountabilities of the role.
- Ensure quality and compliance, following industry standards and best practices.
- Design best-fit Data Network Hardware and Structured Cabling infrastructure solutions via a Vendor Delivery Model to the Department's Schools and Corporate office sites.
- Function as an integral part of the departmental ICT operations teams, providing leadership, mentoring and technical expertise to peers within operational teams, regional ICT teams, school representatives and other departmental staff in relation to service delivery, technical processes, and new technology development.
- Take responsibility for the Departmental cabling policy and standards and ensure adherence to the standard for all key stakeholders.
- Liaise with other ICT teams to design solutions for new Departmental sites.
- Following ITSM process such as Change and Request management.
- Maintaining a high level of quality in the performance of all duties, ensuring adherence to quality assurance expectations, policies and procedures, government and industry standards and best practices, proactively seeking improvements in the way in which work is undertaken.
- Experience within the Public sector and large government departments would be advantageous.
- Proven ability performing quote assessments, RFQs (Request for Quotation), an understanding of Standing Offer Arrangement
- Track record of working with vendors to deliver required outcomes within agreed timeframes and budget.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, fostering positive relationships with key stakeholders, including managing vendor relationships to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience in network design with a technical background in ICT networking equipment including HPE, Aruba and Cisco technologies.
- Experience delivering network related projects in a complex environment.
- Experience in passive network planning and design (copper, fibre optic)
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting ability.
