The Role
The Classified Registry Clerk (CRC) at the Defence Force School of Signals - Electronic Warfare Wing (DFSS-EWW) is responsible for maintaining the Wing's classified documents, coordinating the maintenance a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF), escorting contractors and performing Communications Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO) duties, including requesting and delivering compartment briefs and managing SCIF access and passes.
The CRC must have an ability to: liaise with civilian and military personnel, ranging from visiting contractors to senior Defence leadership, use a broad range of IT systems, applications and security panels and understand security practices pertaining to the protection of sensitive information in a Defence Force environment. They should have sound book keeping skills and an ability to conduct routine audits on classified documents and assets. They work autonomously around the Wing's training curriculum and as such, must be self-motivated with a clear understanding of security requirements pertaining to Signals Intelligence courses.
The CRC is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex protective security work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. They will provide detailed security technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to project management and policy development.
They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. Experience working in a Defence Force environment is highly desirable.
About our Team
DFSS-EWW, situated in Toowoomba, Queensland, is part of the Defence Force School of Signals (DFSS), its headquarters are located in Melbourne Victoria and it is part of Army's Forces Command. DFSS-EWW is a combined training facility that promotes a 'One Defence' model with ADF, APS and contracted staff to deliver SIGINT/EW Training. As the CRC, you will work in a joint service environment alongside the executive team, military team leaders and military instructors and learners. The team are passionate about delivering training to initial employment and qualified members of the ADF. The CRC's work is largely self-driven, and would best suit an individual who is capable of working autonomously, with little to no direction
Our Ideal Candidate
An ideal candidate will have experience with the Gallagher Command Centre application and Type 1A security panels. Experience with managing the security of a SCIF, including responsibility for managing keys, door and safe combination locks and classified printer registers. Experience registering classified documents and assets via an Electronic Classified Document Register (ECDR) and managing a Unit Security Register (USR). The ideal candidate will be a qualified COMSO and Security Officer (SO) with experience delivering country briefs, compartment briefs and security clearances and assisting with the accreditation of the SCIF.
The CRC create all staff and learner passes for the Wing, thus a candidate with a Unit Photographer qualification or equivalent is ideal. Experience in liaising with Defence agencies, especially those involved with Signals Intelligence is also ideal. The ideal candidate should have experience with the Defence Safehand Mail process and able to work outside normal business hours to facilitate safehand package deliveries.
