Job Description

About the role

As an Accounts Receivable Officer at Sydney Airport, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth financial operation of one of Australia’s most iconic transport hubs. Sitting within our Finance team, this position is essential to maintaining the integrity of our debtors ledger and supporting effective cash flow across the business. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders across Commercial, Business Units, and IT, as well as with external customers and airlines, helping ensure revenue is collected efficiently and accurately.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, an eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to join a high-performing team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include collections, cash allocations, and resolving customer enquiries—keeping operations running seamlessly behind the scenes. If you're looking to build your finance career in an organisation that sits at the heart of Australia’s aviation industry, this role offers both impact and opportunity.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

  • Oversee the collections and recoveries process, ensuring timely and accurate processing and allocation of cash receipts.
  • Manage account reconciliations and resolve customer enquiries through the accounts receivable inbox, delivering excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with Sydney Airport business units to collate billing data, process invoices, and reduce unallocated cash while maintaining high data quality.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including the Commercial and Financial Planning & Analytics teams.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounts receivable processes in collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Supervisor.
  • Support month-end reconciliations and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.

About You

  • Proven experience in accounts receivable, billing, and collections, ideally with over 5 years in a finance environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in reconciliations and cash allocations.
  • A proactive, results-driven mindset with the ability to prioritise tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid knowledge of accounts receivable processes, with a working understanding of credit management principles.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial systems such as Oracle or similar platforms.
