Join a leading healthcare team at Macquarie University Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Pain Specialist . In this pivotal role, you’ll provide expert nursing care and clinical leadership to the team, centered on the assessment, diagnosis, and management of pain in patients. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you’ll bring advanced clinical knowledge, offer expert guidance, and play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to patients suffering chronic or acute pain.

We’re looking for a highly skilled and compassionate nurse with a strong background in pain management and acute health, committed to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, patient advocacy, and staff education. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients across inpatient, outpatient, and day surgery settings.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive, patient-centred care.

  • Educate, mentor, and support nursing staff through training sessions and professional development initiatives.

  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, protocols, and quality improvement activities.

  • Support operational management, including staffing, workflow planning, and resource allocation.

  • Promote evidence-based practice through active participation in research and integration of current clinical knowledge.

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1–2 page cover letter:

  • Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Relevant Clinical Postgraduate qualifications (or working towards).

  • Extensive experience in acute health nursing, with a demonstrated capacity for advanced clinical practice.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and educate staff.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a Clinical Nurse Specialist or senior nursing role within an acute care setting.

  • Experience in research or quality improvement initiatives.

  • Knowledge of pain management.

Role Specific Conditions

  • Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Up-to-date immunisations

  • Valid Working with Children Check

  • Up-to-date CPR accreditation

  • Criminal History Check
