The Business Banking division at CommBank supports Australian businesses with innovative financial solutions, including lending, deposits, and payments. Within this division, the Payments team plays a critical role in enabling secure, scalable, and customer-focused transaction services across the business banking portfolio.

This role sits within the Office of the Executive General Manager, Business Banking Payments, and is responsible for driving the strategic agenda of the business unit. As Executive Advisor, you’ll deliver thought leadership, shape strategic initiatives, and provide high-impact insights to help the business navigate a dynamic operating environment.

You’ll work closely with the EGM and senior leaders across Business Banking Payments to identify opportunities, assess risks, and guide decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and enjoys solving complex problems using data, insight, and influence.

Your day could look like (but not be limited to):

• Leading and supporting strategy projects, including defining problem statements and structuring analysis

• Conducting research and data analysis to generate insights that inform business decisions

• Synthesising findings into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders

• Contributing to the development and execution of the business unit’s strategic roadmap

• Collaborating across teams to uplift strategic capability and drive continuous improvement

• Monitoring external trends and internal performance to identify emerging risks and opportunities

• Supporting product strategy and governance initiatives across Business Banking Payments
  

What successful candidates will look like

We’re seeking a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a passion for enabling business success. You’ll be confident working independently or as part of a team, and comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders to influence outcomes.

Additional qualities we’re looking for:

• Experience in corporate strategy, business transformation, or management consulting

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure and interpret complex data

• Knowledge of business banking and payments products (highly desirable)

• Proven ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior audiences

• Experience working in or supporting executive leadership teams

• A proactive mindset with a curiosity to learn and improve
