Ministerial Services Unit (MSU) is a high performance team currently consisting of 10 staff members. The unit delivers vial ministerial and parliamentary business services on behalf of the Queensland Police Service to Queensland Government agencies.The primary role of MSU is to ensure accountability and integrity in departmental information provided to partner agencies in an ever-changing environment. The MSU team is dedicated to providing proficient communication and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
Our role includes, but not limited to, facilitating the provision of correspondence and briefing notes, possible Parliamentary questions and Questions on Notice to the Office of the Minister for Police, as well as the Department of Premier and Cabinet, as well as managing the Ministerial Events Schedule which involves identifying event opportunities for the Minister and coordinating the preparation of the necessary documents/plaques etc. The annual preparation of Estimates documents also falls within the MSU portfolio.
Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Prepare ministerial correspondence.
- Review and edit Ministerial correspondence and Ministerial Briefing Notes for submission to the Minister to ensure compliance with departmental standards including timeframe performance requirements.
- Provide high quality advice to the Manager and coordinate responses.
- Routinely liaise with staff and officers at all levels within the QPS to ensure the efficient processing of correspondence for the Minister.
- Work under limited supervision using a high level of initiative to resolve issues, deliver practical solutions and disseminate information which supports business outcomes.
- Routinely prioritise competing demands to meet business and performance timeframes.
- Utilise the computerised correspondence management tracking system to ensure correspondence management and recording systems are efficient.
- Contribute to the ongoing review and enhancement of administrative systems to improve business outcomes.
- Assist with the delivery and review of internal performance monitoring by assisting to compile and analyse monthly/quarterly reports.
